-직설법을 반대로 말하기, 그래서 더 부드럽게 표현
-IF절을 사용하는 것이 기본
과거
If s 과거동사/were x, s 조과 rv x.
과거완료
If s had pp x, s 조과 have pp x.
ex)
너는 새가 아니라서 날 수 없어.
Because you [are not] a bird, you [can't fly]. (직설법)
If you [were] a bird, you [could fly].
