The table above shows the organic farming area in hectares for selected European countries in 2012 and 2017 and the percentage change. The total organic farming area of those countries was larger in 2017 than in 2012. In both years, Spain had the largest organic farming area, followed by Italy and France, and it was the only country that had more than two million hectares of organic farming area in 2017. Poland and the United Kingdom showed a reduction in organic farming area in 2017 compared to 2012, and the organic farming area of Poland was smaller than that of the United Kingdom in 2017. Hungary showed an increase of organic farming area in 2017 compared to 2012, and the organic farming area of Hungary in 2017 was over two times larger than that of Croatia in 2017.
