Finally, it came to my turn. I was supposed to walk backward off the cliff. Just looking down the cliff made my legs begin to shake. I knew there was a safety rope around me in case I should black out. I had an intellectual understanding of the whole situation and an intellectual sense of security. Nevertheless, my hair stood on end and I shivered all over. That first step off the cliff was the most difficult moment, but I made it ― as did others. I arrived safely at the bottom, overjoyed by the success of meeting the challenge. I felt as though I was walking on air.::마침내 내 차례가 되었다. 난 절벽에서 뒤로 걸어가기로 되어 있었다. 절벽 아래를 내려다보기만 했는데도 다리가 후들거리기 시작했다. 의식을 잃을 때에 대비해 몸에 안전 밧줄이 둘려 있다는 것은 알고 있었다. 머리로는 모든 상황을 이해했고, 머리로는 안전하다고 느꼈다. 그런데도 내 머리카락은 곤두섰고 온몸이 떨렸다. 절벽에서 첫발을 내딛는 것이 가장 힘든 순간이었지만, 다른 사람들이 해낸 것처럼, 나도 해냈다. 나는 도전에 성공한 것을 매우 기뻐하며 무사히 바닥에 도착했다. 나는 마치 하늘 위를 걷는 것 같은 기분이었다.
